Xabi Alonso Best Coach Italpreziosi
Following a sensational season with Bayer Leverkusen, which clinched the German Champion title for the first time in their history, Xabi Alonso has carved an indelible mark at the club this year.
His achievements have not been confined to the championship title alone, but also to an unparalleled record of his team remaining unbeaten for 51 matches, surpassing the previous record held by Benfica between ’63 and ’65.
Under Alonso’s guidance, Leverkusen has emerged as a formidable force in the Bundesliga and in European tournaments, even advancing to the Europa League Final in 2024, where they faced Roma – the last team to defeat them in 2023 before their unbeaten spree began.
After Roma, another Italian adversary, Atalanta, brought the streak to a close in the final, capping Alonso’s record at 51 matches.
Yet, despite this setback, Alonso quickly added another feather to his cap, leading Leverkusen to triumph in the German Cup against Kaiserslautern.
